Do You Hear That?
This project is a different kind of “art” than I am used to. The art I am used to making tends to be done on paper and is normally an illustration, but we tend to forget that art is not just drawing and can be found in many different ways. Creating a sound story board was a lot of fun. The first step of the project was to collect five sounds that happen in your everyday life or just something you find interesting. This of course was the easiest part of the project, but it was difficult to come up with different ideas for sounds that my classmates might have not thought of. John Cage is the inspiration for this project, as a young artist Cage would put a composition together of different sounds that would total up to four minutes and thirty three seconds as his artwork. The message behind his work was his ability to take sounds and incorporate them with the use of instruments. These sounds are supposed to create an overall story to the artist with the finished product.
Working with sound for the first time, I found it to be a very creative experience. My sound is composed of the different shared audio files and different sounds from the organ and piano. Overall my experience with this project was positive, and trying to create with a new form of art is a good learning step for future projects.
